TORONTO – Police say a woman brandishing a hammer has attacked a bus driver in Toronto, setting off a melee that injured three people.

The woman boarded the bus Monday morning and accused the driver of not stopping for her earlier, police say. She then allegedly began swinging the hammer, injuring the bus driver's hands.

Authorities say other passengers wrestled the woman to the floor and held her until police arrived. The bus driver was taken to the hospital, and two other people suffered minor injuries.

Charges of assault with a weapon have been filed against Chelsea Simon, 23.

Last month, a passenger on a Greyhound bus in Canada repeatedly stabbed his seatmate and after killing him, cut off his head, witnesses reported.
