More Internet providers agree to block child porn

ASSOCIATED PRESS

1:45 p.m. July 29, 2008

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – New York's attorney general says several more Internet service providers have agreed to limit access to child pornography.

Andrew Cuomo says Comcast Corp., NetZero, Juno and BlueLight Internet will purge their servers of child porn sites and eliminate access to child porn newsgroups.

Similar agreements were announced previously with AT&T Inc., Verizon Communications Inc., AOL, Sprint Nextel Corp. and Time Warner Cable Inc.

Cuomo said Tuesday that he has also subpoenaed several small local Internet providers for information about how they combat child pornography.

The announcement came a week after Cuomo threatened Comcast – the nation's second-largest Internet service provider – with legal action if it didn't block the pornographic images.
