VALLEJO – A fire at a Vallejo retirement home last week has claimed a second life.

Officials say 74-year-old John Argente has died after a four-alarm fire at the Casa de Vallejo on Friday.

The fire swept through the six-story building Friday morning, killing one man whose body was found Friday afternoon in his sixth-floor room.

The name of that man has not been released.

About 115 residents of the building were successfully evacuated – many carried by firefighters, police officers and bystanders.
